Engine

The Diamant Twin is equipped with a Hirth F 30 4-cylinder double-piston engine with 1000 ccm capacity, 2 diaphragm carburetors, a single ignition and an electrical starter. The engine is encapsulated by the cowling. Air cooling is enabled using a spacious NACA air inlet. The engine is weather-protected. Further characteristics are: power supply unit: approx. 83 HP, with 5000 rpm consumption: 8-10 ltr./h (journey) level of fuel in the tank: 60 litres noise emission: <58 dB For en-route flights a hand throttle lever beside the foot gas lever can be used. This enables a comfortable "placing" of the feet, which pilots can appreciate at long cross-country flights.

Transmission and propeller

A maintenance-free Poly v belt drive with a translation of i=2,5 finds standard use. The advantage of the Poly v belt drive is a quiet and vibration-free transfer of the engine drift performance onto a 3-blade-CFK propeller with 160 cm in diameter.
