| A substantial advantage of the Diamant Twin: pilot and copilot can sit side by side
in the fuselage. This concept permits an optimal seating position for flight
instructors and flying students, but it also enables a perfect ergonomic
seating position in normal flying operation with passenger and full operator
control over the instruments and communication devices. The self-supporting
airframe is manufactured with aviation certified glass fiber materials (GFK).
The engine frame consists of a plywood frame laminated into the cell and serves
the introduction of all resulting forces from chassis, suspension and the
torque of the propeller. Using this sandwich structure the engine frame also
serves as a fire wall between engine compartment and passenger cell - an
extremely important safety device which can only be found in the Diamant
Twin. |
